LACROSSE, WIS. — Agropur, the Canadian dairy cooperative, has signed a letter of intent to acquire Main Street Ingredients. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Becoming part of the Agropur organization gives Main Street Ingredients broader resources and expertise to continue its impressive growth and innovation, serving food industry customers around the world,” said Dave Clark, chief executive officer of Main Street Ingredients.

Main Street will continue to operate under its own licensed name and will be managed by the current president, Bill Schmitz. The operation and employees in La Crosse will remain with the company. The company processes ingredients for the dairy, nutrition and food processing industries.

Headquartered in Montreal, Agropur has annual sales of approximately C$3.4 billion ($3.35 billion). The company has 27 processing plants throughout its three core markets of Canada, the United States and Argentina.
