WILMINGTON, DEL. — E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company is expanding in corn and soybeans with the acquisition of Seed Consultants, Inc., Washington Court House, Ohio, and Terral Seed, Lake Providence, La. The two seed companies previously distributed seed through Pioneer’s ProAccess distribution system.
According to DuPont, the ProAccess distribution system, which was launched in December 2008, enables Pioneer to make its seed genetics available to more growers through a network of distributors.
Earlier this month, Pioneer completed the acquisitions of other ProAccess partners, including Hoegemeyer Hybrids, Hooper, Neb., a distributor of HPT brand corn hybrids and soybean varieties; NuTech Seed, Ames, Iowa, a distributor of G2 brand corn hybrids and soybean varieties; and AgVenture, Inc., Kentland, Ind., a distributor of VPMaxx brand corn hybrids and soybean varieties through its 39 independently owned and managed regional seed companies. Pioneer also sells a complete line of corn and soybean seed under the Curry brand seed, which was acquired in 2008.
In addition to the acquired companies, Pioneer said it will continue to distribute seed through independent ProAccess partners, including Beck’s Hybrids, Atlanta, Ind.; Burrus Hybrids, Arenzville, Ill.; and Doebler’s PA Hybrids Inc., Jersey Shore, Pa.
