WASHINGTON — Rich Galen has been named as keynote speaker at the BakePAC Dinner of the Independent Bakers Association annual meeting. The dinner will be held June 16 at the Washington Court hotel. Mr. Galen’s involvement in politics began when he was named press secretary for Vice-President Dan Quayle. In 1996 he was named director of communications for the political office of Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.

Mr. Galen spent six months in Iraq in 2003 on assignment from the White House. His assignment was to bring aspects to the military’s activities back to the United States to counter the picture painted by the mainstream media.

For the past 12 years, Mr. Galen has written a thrice-a-week column titled “Mullings,” which reaches 400,000 readers, including senior reporters and political operative on both sides of the aisle.
