OMAHA — ConAgra Foods, Inc. will invest approximately $73 million and create more than 200 jobs over the next five years at the recently acquired Elan Nutrition facility in Kentwood, Mich. ConAgra acquired Elan Nutrition, a privately-held formulator and manufacturer of snack and nutrition bars, from an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners, Inc. in mid-April.

Regional non-profit economic development organization The Right Place, Inc., the Michigan Economic Development Corp. and the city of Kentwood are providing a $9 million incentive package in support of ConAgra’s upgrades at the Kentwood facility.

Investment in the facility is expected to include enhanced training and education of the Kentwood workforce, including the addition of a Center of Excellence Research and Development group.

“Food processing continues to be one of our strongest industry clusters,” said Birgit Klohs, president of The Right Place. “Adding a global leader like ConAgra Foods to that segment brings not only jobs, but also new innovation, development and growth opportunities for West Michigan.”
