TORRANCE, CALIF. — King’s Hawaiian Bakery has published a special recipe book in conjunction with its 60th anniversary. The recipe booklet, available at www.kingshawaiian.com/recipes, includes an early recipe for the company’s popular Hawaiian French Toast.

“Ours was the very first Hawaiian Sweet Bread,” said Mark Taira, chief executive officer and son of company founder Robert Taira. “My family has made it our mission to ensure the company and its bread and rolls remain true to the spirit of the original.”

Founded in Hawaii in 1950, King’s Hawaiian operates a 150,000-square-foot bakery, as well as two Torrance-based restaurant locations, including the King’s Hawaiian Restaurant & Bakery, which opened in 1988, and The Local Place, which opened in 2002 as a fast-casual restaurant concept. King’s Hawaiian’s bread products are used in dishes at a number of locations, including the Disneyland Resort, Dave & Busters and Ruby’s Diner.
