OAK BROOK, ILL. — McDonald’s Corp. on Aug. 9 said global comparable sales increased 7% in July and 4.9% year-to-date. System-wide sales for restaurants worldwide, meanwhile, increased 6.8%, or 8.3% in constant currencies, during July.
“Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and our strong July sales performance reflects our commitment to them,” said Jim Skinner, chief executive officer. “We’re listening to our customers and offering the right combination of high-quality food and beverage choices, convenient locations with extended hours, and outstanding value across the entire menu.”
U.S. comparable sales at McDonald’s rose 5.7% behind strength in beverages, including the recently launched McCafe Real Fruit Smoothies and Frappes along with value-based drinks.
European comparable sales were up 5.3% due to positive results in France, the United Kingdom and Germany, while comparable sales climbed 10.1% in Asia/Pacific/Middle East and Africa.
