WASHINGTON — Kevin Phillips, vice-president of operations support within the manufacturing and logistics division at Safeway, Inc., has joined the board of directors of the American Bakers Association. He replaces Chris Moloney, vice-president of the bakery business unit at Safeway, who is retiring after serving on the board since 2000.
“Chris Moloney has provided tremendous service and active engagement on A.B.A.’s board for the last decade,” said Robb MacKie, president and chief executive officer of the A.B.A. “He has been a great source of insight, guidance and leadership, and his voice will be missed greatly. He will be replaced by a very capable successor who we are excited to welcome to the group. We look forward to working alongside Mr. Phillips and Safeway to promote the interests of all sectors of baking in the coming years.”
Prior to joining Safeway in 1998, Mr. Phillips was plant manager at National Beverage Corp., and earlier was a production manager at Continental Bakeries and a plant manager at Pepsi Bottling Group.
