LONDON — Michael A. Clarke, executive vice-president and president, Kraft Foods Europe, has been named chief executive officer of Premier Foods, effective Sept. 1. He will succeed Robert Schofield, who is retiring.

Prior to joining Kraft Foods Europe in 2009, Mr. Clarke was president of The Coca-Cola Co., Northwest Europe & Nordics. He earlier held a number of senior roles at Coca-Cola for 12 years. Before joining Coca-Cola he was vice-president of Reebok South Asia/Pacific and began his early career as a chartered accountant in South Africa with Deloitte. He graduated with a degree in commerce from the University of Cape Town.

Succeeding Mr. Clarke as president of Kraft Foods Europe will be Timothy P. Cofer. Mr. Cofer has been with Kraft since 1992, most recently as senior vice-president of the global chocolate category team. Earlier he was senior vice-president of strategy and integration.

Mr. Cofer received a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from St. Olaf College and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota.
