NEW YORK — The National Pasta Association has named Candice Kumai as a consultant and spokesperson for its Pasta Fits campaign. Ms. Kumai, author of “Pretty Delicious,” co-host of Lifetime Television’s series, “Cook Yourself Thin,” chef contributor on the Cooking Channel’s “Unique Eats,” and Bravo’s “Top Chef” alumni, will support the N.P.A.’s program conveying the message that pasta fits into a healthy lifestyle, a balanced diet, a weight loss program, a budget and a busy day.

“I’m thrilled to be working with the National Pasta Association on Pasta Fits and excited to celebrate National Pasta Month this October,” Ms. Kumai said. “Pasta is part of a balanced diet and can be prepared in so many appetizing ways. N.P.A.’s program reflects my personal commitment to spreading the love of delicious food while educating people about maintaining a healthy diet that everyone can feel good about.”

The Pasta Fits campaign helps consumers to understand the role of carbohydrates, specifically pasta, in a healthy diet and in weight loss. A highlight of the promotion is the celebration of National Pasta Month in October, during which time the N.P.A. will promote new pasta recipes, healthy diet tips and media appearances.

“We believe that Candice Kumai is the perfect ‘fit’ for our new campaign,” said Peter Smith, chairman of the N.P.A. and chief executive officer of Ebro North America. “With her passion for educating consumers about healthy foods that are as delicious as they are nutritious, she embodies all the ideals of the Pasta Fits campaign.”
