NORTHBROOK, ILL. — UL (Underwriters Laboratories) has launched UL Food Safety, a new program that initially will offer a training curriculum. A larger portfolio of services, including traceability, validation and testing services, is under development.

The initial training course, “Food Safety Culture,” is designed to guide food industry executives through the process of creating an organizational culture that ensures food products are safe and meet consumer and regulatory requirements. The course establishes a framework for corporate management responsibility, communication of food safety objectives to employees and continuous improvement in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points and overall food safety systems.

The training curriculum will include two other programs, “Food Safety Awareness” and “Evaluation of HACCP & Food Safety Preventative Control Programs,” that will be available this fall.
