OMAHA — Gavilon Grain, L.L.C. said it plans to construct a 2.2-million-bu, slip-form concrete grain elevator with an additional 2 million bus of bunker storage capacity near Nora, Ill. The facility will feature an 8,300-foot loop track with shuttle loading capabilities of up to 80,000 bus per hour, accessing the Canadian National mainline with Burlington Northern Santa Fe interchange near Dubuque, Iowa.

“We look forward to serving farmers in northwestern Illinois and southern Wisconsin,” said Marv Hachmeister, vice-president and general manager of Gavilon Grain’s east region. “The Nora facility will complement our Dubuque, Iowa, and Wisconsin operations, providing area producers an alternate delivery point that leverages our transportation network to efficiently deliver grain to destination markets.”

The Nora facility will purchase grain from the 2012 harvest and is expected to be fully operational by this fall.
