MENOMONEE FALLS, WIS. — Cousins Subs, a subway sandwich chain operating 150 sandwich shops in Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota and Arizona, is launching a “founder’s program” to encourage franchisees to invest in new shops. Under the program, all franchise fee payments will go into store marketing initiatives. Cousins will reinvest the franchise fees for new shops in new markets, which are $25,000 for the first store and $17,500 for subsequent stores, in local store marketing. The chain said its current program includes investment of $10,000 in marketing per store, but the new program will generate 15 times that amount over a three year period. Founded in 1972, Cousins models its sandwiches on East coast deli and features fresh bread. Fifteen new stores are planned for 2012.
