SLIDELL, LA. — The second annual “All Things Baking” trade show scheduled for Sept. 9-11 in Houston will have new additions to the curriculum, including an increased emphasis on business management.

A three-day education program will feature business-focused classroom sessions, two-hour baking labs, advanced interactive classes and celebrity-led baking and decorating demonstrations on the show floor.

Topics will include business management and marketing, product development, retail baking trends, ethical and eco-friendly practices, food safety, cake and cookie decorating, bread baking and baking technology.

Professional competitions will include the 12th annual “R.B.A. Pillsbury Bakers’ Plus Grand Champion Creative Decorating” competition and the “Cake & Baked Foods Expo Extravaganza.” Keynote speaker Steve Gilliland on Sept. 9 will give his proprietary “Enjoy the Ride” presentation. A series of tours will visit Houston bakeries.

The Retail Bakers of America has partnered with the American Bakers Association, BEMA, AIB International, the Culinary Institute of America and the Bread Baker’s Guild of America to organize “All Things Baking.”

“We are building on last year’s inaugural success to create an education experience for our attendees that will be even better this year,” said Lynn Schurman, director of education for the R.B.A.
