WEST JAVA, INDONESIA — Cargill will collaborate with Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), an agriculture institute in Indonesia, to build an oil palm teaching farm in Indonesia. Cargill will contribute $250,000 for construction of the farm, which will allow for research in the plantation sector.
The farm will provide training to students in plantation production and management for a sustainable agricultural system. The farm will serve as a reference to other palm oil companies in the application for Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification and for Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification. Cargill’s PT Hindoli plantation in Indonesia was RSPO certified in 2009.
