WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. said Aug. 24 that its franchisee, Almana Yiyecek Ve Icecek San. Ve. Tic, Ltd., STI, has opened the company’s first donut store in Turkey.

The new store is the first of 25 Krispy Kreme shops planned to open in Turkey over the next five years.

Based in Winston-Salem, Krispy Kreme operates approximately 550 stores in 18 countries, including the United States, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Qatar, the Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. The company also has plans in place to build in China.

Almana Yiyecek is a Turkish subsidiary of the Almana Group, which has experience in the quick-service restaurant industry through its ownership of KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in Turkey.
