IRVING, TEXAS — Hostess Brands, Inc. said lemon meringue has been chosen as the next’s Hostess Twinkie flavor filling. Lemon meringue beat out raspberry tart, blueberry pie and Cookies n Creme in the Hostess Twinkie Mania Sweepstakes, which ran from Feb. 20 to April 1. The new Twinkies will be in stores for a limited time beginning in 2012.

As part of the promotion, consumers voted for their current favorite Twinkie flavor. Original Vanilla Crème garnered 51% of the vote to beat out two new limited-edition flavors — Chocolate Creme and Strawberry & Creme.
