WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Department of Education issued a joint request in the March 16 Federal Register seeking public comments to assist the Task Force on Childhood Obesity in making recommendations on public and private sector actions that may be taken to solve the problem.
According to the agencies, comments are being sought on a variety of issues, but primarily should be geared toward meeting four objectives: ensuring access to healthy, affordable food; increasing physical activity in schools and communities; providing healthier food in schools; and empowering parents with information and tools to make good choices for themselves and their families.
Comments may be submitted though the Federal eRulemaking Portal at www.regulations.gov.
