MINNEAPOLIS — Cargill has launched Clear Valley 80 high-oleic canola oil that has low levels of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans fat per 14-gram serving and exceptional shelf life, according to the company. Potential applications include baked foods, breakfast cereal, granola mixes, nutritional beverages and salty snacks.

Unlike typical canola oils, high-oleic canola oils have natural resistance to oxidation without going through hydrogenation, fractionation or other complex processing, according to Cargill. The company already offers Clear Valley 65 high-oleic canola oil, which provides high heat stability and is particularly suitable for frying applications, and Clear Valley 75 high-oleic canola oil, which features both high heat and high oxidative stability.
