ZURICH, SWITZERLAND — Barry Callebaut has introduced ChocMelts inclusions which are soft melting ice cream chocolate bites. They are available in Europe immediately. They will be available in other regions, including the Americas and Asia, at a later, unspecified time.
ChocMelts are made from 100% chocolate and do not have compounds based on vegetable fats other than cocoa butter. Because they melt together with ice cream, ChocMelts inclusions release a rich, intense chocolate taste, according to Zurich-based Barry Callebaut.
“Barry Callebaut’s ChocMelts inclusions are a truly exciting new development,” said Hans Vriens, chief innovation officer. “This is the first time anyone has developed a 100% chocolate inclusion with the perfect melting behavior required for use in ice cream. This unique innovation offers untold possibilities for new products and new taste sensations for the end consumer.”
The inclusions may be blended with ice cream via a standard fruit feeder. The soft melting chocolate drops are available in dark, milk and white chocolate.
