COLLEGE PARK, MD. — General Mills, Inc. has withdrawn its food additive petition that proposed that the food additive regulations be amended to provide for the safe use of ultraviolet radiation for the reduction of pathogens and other microorganisms in aqueous sugar solutions and potable water intended for use in food production.
General Mills first filed the petition on Dec. 3, 2007, but withdrew the filing May 26, 2010, according to a notice published in the June 2 Federal Register.
