WASHINGTON — Frozen stocks of eggs and cheese on July 31 were greater than year-earlier levels while butter and red meat stocks were lower, the U.S. Department of Agricultures said in its latest Cold Storage report.

Total natural cheese stocks on July 31 were 1,048,767,000 lbs, up 2% from June and up 5% from July 2009, the U.S.D.A. said. Butter stocks were 199,634,000 lbs, up 1% from June but down 24% from July 2009.

Total frozen egg stocks at the end of July were 24,846,000 lbs, down 1% from June but up 10% from the previous year. Stocks of egg whites were 3,582,000 lbs, up 26% from June and up 13% from July 2009. Frozen egg yolk stocks were 626,000 lbs, up 11% from June but down 40% from July 2009. Whole and mixed egg stocks came in at 6,724,000 lbs, up 12% from June but down 25% from July 2009. Unclassified egg stocks totaled 13,914,000 lbs, down 11% from June but up 48% from the previous year.

Total chicken stocks were 672,786,000 lbs, up 1% from June but down 1% from July 2009. Turkey stocks totaled 502,014,000 lbs, down 1% from June and down 22% from July 2009. Total frozen poultry supplies were 1,179,859,000 lbs, equal to levels in June but down 11% from July 2009.

Total red meat supplies were 808,151,000 lbs, down 1% from June and down 20% from July 2009. Total frozen beef stocks were 388,327,000 lbs, up 4% from June but down 13% from the previous year. Frozen pork stocks totaled 391,252,000 lbs, down 5% from June and down 28% from the previous year. Frozen pork belly stocks were 21,802,000 lbs, down 38% from June and down 64% from July 2009.

Frozen vegetable stocks totaled 1,890,072,000 lbs, up 14% from June and up 3% from July 2009. Stocks of frozen french fries were 820,767,000 lbs, down 9% from June and down 16% from July 2009.

Stocks of all types of frozen fruit totaled 1,113,204,000 lbs, up 21% from the previous month but down 4% from the previous year.

Stocks of frozen orange juice concentrate were 1,235,803,000 lbs, down 9% from the previous month and down 12% from the previous year.

Fresh apples in regular and controlled storage on July 31 were 463,902,000 lbs, down 44% from June and down 8% from the previous year.
