WASHINGTON — The total amount of edible liquid product from shell eggs broken in December was 219,221,000 lbs, down 3% from November and down 5% from December 2010, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Egg Products report.
December production of edible liquid whole eggs was 140,952,000 lbs, up 2% from November but down 2% from December 2010; liquid whites were 51,829,000 lbs, down 10% from November 2011 and December 2010; liquid yolks were 26,440,000 lbs, down 13% from November and down 9% from December 2010; and inedible production was 18,605,000 lbs, down 5% from November and down 7% from December 2010.
Shell eggs broken in December were 168,435,000 dozen, down 3% from November and down 5% from December 2010.
January-December production of edible whole eggs was 1,660,286,000 lbs, down 2% from the previous year; whites were 687,303,000 lbs, up 5%; yolks were 351,875,000 lbs, up 8%; and total edible liquid was 2,699,464,000 lbs, up 1% from the previous year.
