WASHINGTON — The total amount of edible liquid product from shell eggs broken during April was 218,395,000 lbs, down 2% from March but up 2% from April 2011, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Egg Products report.

April production of edible liquid whole eggs was 127,429,000 lbs, down 7% from March and down 5% from April 2011; liquid whites were 60,749,000 lbs, up 6% from March and up 14% from April 2011; liquid yolks were 30,217,000 lbs, up 4% from March and up 11% from April 2011.

Shell eggs broken in April were 169,009,000 dozen, down 1% from March but up 3% from April 2011.

January – April production of edible whole eggs was 528,557,000 lbs, down 2% from the same period of the previous year; whites were 233,264,000, up 5%; yolks were 118,800,000 lbs, up 3%; and total edible liquid was 880,621,000 lbs, up 1%.
