KANSAS CITY — Peanut stocks in commercial storage as of June 30 totaled 1,245,482,000 lbs of equivalent farmer stock, down 32% from the same date a year ago, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its most recent Peanut Stocks and Processing report.

Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 708,847,000 lbs of farmer stock equivalent, down 2% from a year earlier. Roasting stock totaled 44,891,000 lbs, down 34%, the U.S.D.A. said.

June millings totaled 273,172,000 lbs, down 23% from June 2011.

During June, commercial processors used 168,197,000 lbs of shelled edible grade peanuts, down 10% from a year ago, including 99,677,000 lbs for peanut butter products, down 12%, 36,912,000 lbs for peanut candy, down 6%, and 30,379,000 lbs for peanut snacks, down 9%, the U.S.D.A. said.

Crushing for oil, cake and meal totaled 40,234,000 lbs during the month, down about 1% from a year ago, the U.S.D.A. said.
