FORT WAYNE, IND. — Aunt Millie’s Bakeries, a family-owned company that makes bread and bakery products, baked its last batch of bread at its baking plant in Fort Wayne on April 5. The facility is expected to remain open for clean-up and maintenance before closing for good on April 12.

Aunt Millie’s first announced plans to close the plant back in November after undertaking a capacity and logistical analysis.

Founded in 1901, Aunt Millie’s operates six baking plants in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio, and has more than 50 branch depots and 35 outlet stores in those states, plus Kentucky, Illinois and Wisconsin.
