Meeting the demand for organic ingredients

Despite farmers’ attempts to supply food companies with organic ingredients, they are still running short. At the session “Using Data to Improve the Organic & Non-GMO Marketplace,” Alex Heilman, director of sales, Mercaris, outlined how the industry can support farmers and increase their output.

He pointed to opportunities for support such as vertical integration of agriculture and providing farmers with markets to sell organic rotational crops.
