KANSAS CITY — The American Society of Baking (A.S.B.) is teaming up with the Kansas City chapter of No Kid Hungry to host the World’s Biggest Bake Sale on Sept. 15 in Kansas City. All sales from the event will go to the charity, which aims to end childhood hunger by connecting parents and children to meal program resources in the area.

To prepare for the bake sale, A.S.B. members have donated flour, flavorings, nuts and other supplies to be used by more than 100 professional and amateur bakers to create cookies, cakes, pies, bread, brownies, muffins and more.

Financial contributions also have been made to help with expenses related to signage, promotion and packaging. Any excess funds that are collected will be donated directly to No Kid Hungry as part of the bake sale proceeds.

The day of the event, A.S.B. members and students from Kansas State University and the Ohio State University baking clubs will help sell the baked foods at three locations in the Kansas City metro area from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The A.S.B. is still accepting finished product donations for the bake sale. To contribute, please contact Kent Van Amburg at kvanamburg@asbe.org.
