WASHINGTON — The average price paid for white pan bread decreased 0.3c per lb in November, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor. Meanwhile, the price of whole wheat bread increased 3.5c per lb in the month.

The national average retail price of white pan bread was 127.4c, down 0.3c per lb from October and down 2.1c from November 2017. On a month-to-month basis, the average price for white pan bread in November decreased in three regions — down 6.2c in the South, down 1.6c in the Northeast and down 0.2c in the Midwest — and increased in one region — up 10.5c in the West.

At 194.5c per lb, the national average price for whole wheat bread was up 3.5c per lb from October but down 7.9c per lb from November 2017.

The national average price of family flour in November was 43.3c per lb, down 2c per lb from October and down 3.6c from November 2017.

The national average price for spaghetti and macaroni in November was 119.6c per lb, up 5.8c from October but down 4.6c from November 2017. Chocolate chip cookies were 352.7c per lb, up 7.1c from October but down 11.2c from November 2017. The national average price of white long-grain rice was 71.1c per lb, up 2.6c from October but down 0.1c from November 2017.
