DEERFIELD, ILL. — Mondelez International, Inc. said it plans to relocate its corporate global headquarters to Chicago from Deerfield in the second quarter of 2020 after its current lease expires. The company’s new five-story office building will be located at 905 West Fulton in the heart of Chicago’s food district.

The downtown location is about 28 miles from Deerfield, one of Chicago's northern suburbs.

“We sought a location that reflects our new, dynamic and more consumer-centric growth culture, and which will make existing and future colleagues proud to be working at the global headquarters of a $26 billion global snacking leader,” said Dirk Van de Put, chairman and chief executive officer of Mondelez. “Fulton Market is an exciting part of the city of Chicago that has acquired a well-deserved reputation for world-class food. We’re privileged to be part of this rapidly-developing scene.”

Mondelez also said that Enjoy Life Foods will relocate its local headquarters to Fulton Market. Mondelez acquired Enjoy Life Foods in 2015.

Mondelez is the latest large food and beverage company to relocate or expand in Chicago over the past several years. Other companies that have established headquarters in Chicago since 2011 include: Mars Wrigley, Hickory Farms, McDonald’s Corp., Archer Daniels Midland Co., Kraft Heinz Co., Hillshire Brands, Conagra Brands, Inc., Hometown Foods, Mead Johnson and Ferrara Candy Co.

“Chicago is proud to welcome Mondelez International, one of the world’s leading food companies, to their new home in our great city,” said Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “Mondelez joins a growing list of food and beverage companies relocating to Chicago, strengthening our place as a leader in the global food industry. I am confident this relocation will be a win-win for the company and our city, and we are looking forward to welcoming more than 400 members of the Mondelez International team to Chicago.”
