LOS ANGELES — Aryzta North America has announced plans to add a frozen cookie dough line extension at its bakery in Chaska, Minn. The plant currently makes Otis Spunkmeyer branded cookies and custom cookies for retail, convenience and food service customers.

Aryzta said the frozen cookie dough line will be the company’s third production line at the Chaska facility and will expand production capacity and throughput by more than 40%. The line is expected to become operational in March and will require 30 new employees.

“We are responding to increased demand of our popular Otis Spunkmeyer cookies, as well as custom cookies produced for our customers,” said David S. Johnson, chief executive officer of Aryzta North America. “Chaska’s third line will enable us to meet our customers’ frozen cookie dough needs across food service, convenience and retail channels. We are investing to further strengthen our supply chain to better support our customers.”

Aryzta said the new production line also will have capabilities to produce multiple formats and configurations.
