WASHINGTON — Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives John A. Boehner has been named to deliver the keynote address at the American Bakers Political Action Committee dinner during the 2019 annual convention of the American Bakers Association. Additionally, the A.B.A. said Carey Lohrenz would speak at the Allied Trades of the Baking Industry breakfast.

“We are delighted to offer PAC supporters exclusive access to a high-profile leader of American politics during this important industry event,” said American Bakers PAC chairman Stephen R. Avera, Flowers Foods. “Speaker Boehner holds a unique perspective, and we look forward to hearing his take on the current political climate and how we can come together to promote policies that can grow the baking industry.”

Mr. Boehner served as Speaker of the House for nearly five years between 2011 and 2015. He represented the Eighth congressional district of Ohio from 1991 to 2015 and currently is senior strategic adviser at Squire Boggs L.L.P.

“Mr. Boehner led several significant initiatives during his time in office, all with the goal of creating a more balanced federal budget and seeking better solutions for the challenges facing American families,” said Robb MacKie, president and chief executive officer of the A.B.A. “We can learn how he managed to align a party in transition — and how we can apply those tactics today.”

Ms. Lohrenz, the A.T.B.I. breakfast speaker, was the first woman in the U.S. Navy to serve as an F-14 Tomcat fighter pilot. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin where she was a varsity rower, Ms. Lohrenz attended the Navy’s Aviation Officer Candidate School before beginning fight training and her naval career.

More recently she has delivered presentations on leadership and strategy to a number of companies, including Cisco Systems, Dell Technologies Inc., Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., Deloitte U.S.; Verizon Communications Inc. and AT&T Inc.

Fans of Ms. Lohrenz’s presentation include Erin S. Sharp, A.B.A. chair and group vice-president of manufacturing for The Kroger Co., Cincinnati.

“I have heard Carey Lohrenz speak, and she is awesome,” Ms. Sharp said. “She is very motivating with great tips on how to personally work at your peak performance and how to get your team there. You will not want to miss this one.”

The A.B.A. annual convention will take place April 7-10 at the Ritz-Carlton Naples Beach resort in Naples, Fla. Presentations by Ms. Lohrenz and Mr. Boehner will be delivered April 9.
