WASHINGTON — The average price paid for white pan bread increased 0.8c per lb in February, while the price for whole wheat bread increased 1.1c per lb, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor.

The national average retail price of white pan bread was 128.2c, up 0.8c per lb from January and up 1.7c from February 2018. On a month-to-month basis, the average price for white pan bread in February increased in two regions — up 5.3c in the Midwest and up 3.6c in the West — and decreased in two regions — down 2.1c in the South and down 0.9c in the Northeast.

At 195.1c per lb, the national average price for whole wheat bread was up 1.1c per lb from January but down 6c per lb from February 2018.

The national average price of family flour in February was 44.3c per lb, up 0.4c from January but down 2.7c from February 2018.

The national average price for spaghetti and macaroni in February was 120.6c per lb, down 1.1c from January but up 3c from February 2018. Chocolate chip cookies were 351.6c per lb, up 5c from January but down 20.9c from February 2018. The national average price of white long-grain rice was 76.2c per lb, up 3.2c from January and up 7.1c from February 2018.
