HORSHAM, PA. — Bimbo Bakeries USA, a subsidiary of Grupo Bimbo S.A.B. de C.V., has taken steps to eliminate all artificial preservatives, colors and flavors from its Whole Grains line of bread products sold under the Arnold, Brownberry and Oroweat brands. The move is part of B.B.U.’s “No Added Nonsense” initiative.

B.B.U. said the three brands also have removed monoglycerides, diacetyl tartaric acid esters of monoglycerides (DATEM) and high-fructose corn syrup from the Whole Grains line. The line includes Oatnut, 100% Whole Wheat, 12 Grain, Healthy Multi-Grain and Health Nut.

“Today, we celebrate our position as the largest premium bread brand in the nation to remove artificial ingredients traditionally used in large scale industrial baking,” said Jon Silvon, vice-president of marketing for B.B.U. “Our consumers told us they expected a bread baked using traditional methods that feature real, easy-to-pronounce ingredients. Our new ‘No Added Nonsense’ initiative allows us to answer that call. We look forward to expanding our ‘No Added Nonsense’ initiative to additional product lines in the future.”
