ST. JOSEPH, MO. — LifeLine Foods will expand its masa flour production this year by adding a second mill at its St. Joseph headquarters. The $12 million project includes $5.5 million in existing building improvements and $6.5 million in new equipment. The project will create 13 new jobs.

Masa flour may be used in tortillas, chips, tacos and tamales. The Whole Grains Council, Boston, has certified LifeLine Foods’ masa flour as whole grain, according to the company.

Incentives to make the project possible include the Chapter 100 program, the Enhanced Enterprise Zone program, the Missouri Works program and the KCP&L Economic Development Rider.

“Our business continues to evolve and grow as consumer demands change,” said Kevin Kelly, chief executive officer of LifeLine Foods. “Adding nearly 10% more jobs and capital improvements to our facility will help us meet the demand for our products thanks to incentives like these.”
