WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. is introducing the Original Filled Doughnut, the first filled iteration of the chain’s Original Glazed offering.

The new Original Filled Doughnut is a glazed yeast ring stuffed with crème filling. Initially debuting in Classic Kreme and Chocolate Kreme varieties, the donuts are topped with a squiggle of white or chocolate icing to indicate the filling inside.

Developed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, Krispy Kreme’s new Original Filled Doughnut will launch on June 22 and become a permanent addition to the U.S. menu.

“Krispy Kreme was at the launch of Apollo 11, serving fresh donuts to Americans witnessing liftoff of this monumental mission,” said Dave Skena, chief marketing officer for Krispy Kreme. “As America prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, we want to give our fans a new taste experience that is out of this world.”
