WOLFERTSCHWENDEN, GERMANY — Multivac Group has acquired Fritsch Group, a bakery equipment manufacturer based in Markt Einersheim, Germany. The takeover will begin in August, pending approval from Germany’s Federal Cartel Office. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Multivac currently produces a range of packaging equipment for food processors. With the purchase of Fritsch, Multivac will be able to offer full production lines to bakers.

“The takeover of Fritsch is another important step for Multivac in expanding our range of integrated solutions for processing and packaging food products,” said Christian Traumann, director and chief financial officer, Multivac. “Thanks to the processing solutions from Fritsch, we will continue to extend our presence in the bakery industry, where we have already been able in recent years to implement some very challenging projects for automated packaging solutions.”

Founded in 1926, Fritsch is a global supplier of dough sheeting, laminating and makeup lines for bread, pastries, pizza and more. In April, the company filed for insolvency. The takeover will allow Fritsch to continue operations, with access to Multivac’s network and capabilities.

Fritsch equipment will continue to be produced at its headquarters. The company’s products will be sold through Multivac’s worldwide network. In the future, Multivac said it will create specialized sales teams to service the baking industry and offer integrated solutions for manufacturing and packaging bakery products.
