RANCHO SANTA MARGAREITA, CALIF.  — SweeGen, Inc. announced a new manufacturing base in Europe for its non-G.M.O. Bestevia stevia sweeteners. The company said its new manufacturing facility will produce 3,000 tonnes of next generation stevia sweeteners annually.

SweeGen also recently announced the approval of its latest developed steviol glycoside, Reb E, a major component in its Bestevia e+ product. Its non-G.M.O. Reb M and Reb D were successfully commercialized in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

The company said its next generation sweeteners provide a clean sugar-like taste and enable product developers to replace a maximum amount of sugar and artificial sweeteners.

“European Food and Beverage companies are already working on reformulating their products to reduce sugar and artificial sweeteners,” said Luca Giannone, vice-president of sales and marketing at SweeGen. “Their commitment to provide healthier, naturally sweetened products to their customers is generating an enormous need for our plant based, non-GMO stevia sweeteners.”

SweeGen said it expects approval of its stevia sweeteners by the European Food Safety Authority in the coming months.
