IRVINE, CALIF. — Long considered the cuisine of poor college students, instant ramen noodles are now getting a premium push. Maruchan Inc. is introducing Maruchan Gold, a line of instant craft ramen noodles featuring authentic Asian flavors.

Available in soy sauce and spicy miso varieties, Maruchan Gold is made with Maruchan’s air-dry noodle technology.

“At Maruchan, we believe ramen is food for everyone to enjoy,” said Mark Horikawa, general manger of sales for Maruchan. “Not only will the quality of our Gold products excite experienced home cooks, it will also entice those students looking for an affordable yet authentic food experience.”

The Maruchan Gold brand originally debuted in Japan in 2013. Maruchan said it expects the brand to succeed in the United States due to “the United States’ consumers’ growing affinity for authentic Asian cuisine.”

Maruchan Gold is available nationwide in grocery chains including Albertsons, Food Lion, Hy-Vee, Meijer and Safeway.
