The expo hall officially opened on Sunday at the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE), taking place Sept. 7-11 in Las Vegas. Per tradition, the IBIE committee marked the trade show’s commencement by slicing a loaf of bread. The organization also announced a new collaboration with iba, the German Bakers’ Confederation’s triennial international trade fair, held in Munich, during the ceremony.

Dieter Dohr, iba representative and president and chief executive officer of GHM, iba, told Baking & Snack that the collaboration will allow both events to strengthen their international reach through onsite booth presence, sponsorships, press events, educational programs and speaking opportunities.

With the show floor open, attendees viewed suppliers’ latest ingredient and equipment solutions. Booths featured live demos, interactive displays and tastings.

The day ended with the All-American Tailgate, a networking reception sponsored by Sosland Publishing Company, Corbion and SPF. Attendees and exhibitors connected while they enjoyed traditional tailgating games and fare.
