PARIS — Europain, one of the largest events in Europe for bakery and pastry professionals, continues to expand in order to meet its aim of offering a trade show focused on business in a friendly environment favorable to creativity.

In January 2020, for the first time Europain will be held at the Paris Porte de Versailles venue in France. Located in the heart of Paris, the venue will make it easier for visitors and exhibitors to access the show. Additionally, for the first time, guided baking tours of unique Parisian bakery and pastry shops will be available for visitors.

Another new feature of Europain is Europain Business Meetings, a free service for meetings that are prearranged through a dedicated e-platform. The tailored meetings aim to generate new contacts and set the basis for future collaborations.

An expert advice hub will give visitors access to entrepreneurs, company creators, independent artisans, and networks to answer questions regarding legal aspects, finance, design, arrangement, business audit, and more. A brand chains hub will connect professionals looking for turnkey business solutions with major bakery franchises, while a start-ups hub offer an exhaustive set of digital solutions and food tech innovations.

The Bakery of the Future is another exciting new aspect of Europain 2020. Proposed in cooperation with Le Cordon Bleu, school of catering, and designed by Sylvie Amar & Partners, this concept is a fully operational pop-up bakery. It is a place for manufacturing, eating and selling that will stage some of the innovations that will revolutionize the bakery of tomorrow in real life conditions. It also will feature an area where visitors will be able to buy products to go.

Set up in an actual baking room, the Bakery & Snacking stage will propose demonstrations and concrete solutions designed to help professionals make the most of new opportunities to develop their business.

The Sweet Creations stage will welcome top pastry chefs, as well as chocolate and ice cream specialists, who will offer a series of demos in which they will share their techniques and recipes, adapted to suit constantly-changing consumer habits.

Europain will host two contests bringing together the best representatives in their trades from Europe and around the world.

The Coupe Europe de la Pâtisserie will take place in the heart of Paris for the first time since its creation. The pastry competition, taking place Jan. 12, 2020, features eight teams from all over Europe that will need to draw on their best skills and talents in order to win a ticket for the world grand finale that will be held on Jan. 24, 2021, as part of the Sirha Lyon trade fair.

The Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie puts bread of the world under the spotlight. From Jan. 11-14, 2020, 12 teams composed of three members, among the best in the world in their trade, will compete in four tests:

  • Baguette and breads of the world
  • Sweet viennoiseries
  • Artistic creation
  • Gourmet baking (test performed in common by the three members of the team)

Twelve participating teams are the winners of the regional preselection rounds that were held in the five major zones of the world: Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, and America. The South Korea team was the winner of the previous edition of the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie in 2016.
