LOS ANGELES – A new brand of better-for-you meals is hitting the frozen foods aisle at Walmart, and a celebrity duo had a hand in its creation.

Tiller & Hatch Supply Co. was developed by Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez in partnership with brand developer Launched.LA. The recipes were formulated by Bruce Hecker, an event caterer for the motion picture and entertainment industry. Tiller & Hatch was created to offer “flavorful, nutritious and budget-friendly” meal options, the company said, and a portion from all sales proceeds will be donated to charities working to fight hunger.

"This is an option we wish had been available to our families growing up," Mr. Rodriguez said. "We are committed, like Tiller & Hatch, to doing good. This partnership offers us the opportunity to provide affordable and nutritious meals to families across America while making significant charitable contributions to shelters and food-based charities across the country.”

The new frozen meal brand was designed for an electric pressure cooker, which significantly reduces preparation and cleanup, the company said. Each meal is made with flash-frozen ingredients and is free from artificial flavors, artificial colors, partially hydrogenated oils and added MSG.

The initial Tiller & Hatch line includes eight frozen dishes, including pastas, soups and stews. In the future, the brand plans to also offer organic meals and options for specific dietary lifestyles including vegetarian and paleo diets.

"We are thrilled to introduce the Tiller & Hatch brand to consumers and to the Launched.LA portfolio,” said Sean Kane, co-founder of Launched.LA. “We are redefining the frozen meal - eliminating time in the kitchen and maximizing time at the dinner table making family memories over delicious meals, all at a reasonable price. Partnering with Alex and Jennifer was a natural fit; they both understand the importance of family time and are committed to making healthy and nutritious meals available to all families, which is the foundation of Tiller & Hatch."
