CHICAGO — Benestar Brands and Palmex Alimentos, SA de CV, after merging last December, have unveiled a new unified brand identity: Monarca Authentic Snacks, which offers Hispanic snacks across North America, Central America and South America. The items include crispy snacks under the Palmex brand; pork rinds under the Mac’s, 4505, Turkey Creek and Evans brands; tortilla chips under the Chicas and Cazo de Oro brands; and street snacks under the Las Ricas brand.
Monarca Authentic Snacks has nine manufacturing plants in the United States and Mexico and distribution in over 17 countries. Monarca refers to Monarch butterflies migrating from Mexico to the United States and Canada.
“Our ambition is to be the leading and fastest-growing crispy snacks company in the hemisphere,” said Jose Luis Prado, chairman and chief executive officer of Monarca Authentic Snacks. “For nearly a century, we have crafted pellets and snacks with delicious, authentic Hispanic flavors. With this new identity, we are not just embracing our legacy, we are positioning ourselves for the future. The Hispanic segment is the fastest growing in the US, and 75% of US consumers are actively looking for new and unique flavors, reinforcing our strategy to lead and expand the market.”
Chicago-based Wind Point Partners, which owned Palmex, is the majority shareholder of Monarca Authentic Snacks. Dallas-based Highlander Partners, LP, which owned Benestar Brands, owns a minority stake in Monarca Authentic Snacks.
