J&J Snack Foods Corp. has partnered with General Mills to introduce Pillsbury Mini Pies. The portioned frozen dessert squares will be available in three varieties: apple cinnamon, S’mores and Chocolate Lava. Each package comes with four, 1.8-oz frozen mini pies and a flavored icing packet and may be ready in 15 minutes or less. The pies will be sold at retailers nationwide in frozen dessert sections, as well as in warehouse clubs.

The J.M. Smucker Co.’s Sahale Snacks brand is introducing a line of layered nut bars. The Non-GMO Project Verified bars contain no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives and offer 5 to 7 grams of protein. Each bar consists of glazed nuts, fruits and spices blended with puffed grains that are layered on a cashew nut butter blend and finished with a drizzle of chocolate. The layered nut bars are available in dark chocolate peanut, salted caramel apple pecan, almond vanilla latte and cinnamon pecan varieties. Consumers may purchase them for around $1.99 each.

Christmas has crept into Krispy Kreme’s donuts; the chain is offering four holiday-themed treats. The Santa Belly Donut, filled with chocolate Kreme, is dressed in red and chocolate ice cream to look like Santa’s coat. The Snowman Donut is a snowman-shaped yeast donut frosted with white icing and hand-decorated with chocolate and red icing. The Red Velvet Cake Donut consists of a glazed, red velvet traditional cake donut topped with cream cheese icing and red velvet cake crumbles. The Holiday Sprinkles Donut offers the chain’s traditional chocolate iced yeast donut topped with sprinkles in red, green and white Christmas colors. Krispy Kreme’s holiday donuts are available through Dec. 27.

Sunbelt Bakery is adding the nostalgic holiday flavor of gingerbread cookies to its new product – Gingerbread Chewy Granola Bars. Containing 9 grams of whole grains per serving, the bars feature the festive flavors of ginger and molasses. They retail for around $2.69 per box of eight bars.

Bauli is launching two mini seasonal cakes, mini Panettone and Pandoro. The mini Il Panettone di Milano is loaded with candied citron, lemon zest and raisins. The Il Pandoro di Verona, baked in a star-shaped mold, is sprinkled with confectioners’ sugar and made with real eggs. The kosher certified cakes contain no preservatives, artificial colors, artificial flavors, or bioengineered ingredients.

Made from heirloom white corn, sustainably grown and harvested in the Blue Ridge mountains, the grits are stone-ground in small batches.
