Tim Harris, Nonnis c.e.o., dies at 53

WESTERN SPRINGS, ILL. — Timothy M. Harris, president and chief executive officer of Nonni’s Food Co., died suddenly April 14. A resident of Western Springs, Ill., in suburban Chicago, he was 53. Mr. Harris joined Nonni’s in 2004 in partnership with Wind Point Partners, a Chicago-based private equity group. Based in Tulsa, Okla., Nonni’s is a leading manufacturer and marketer of specialty baked goods, including biscotti, bagel chips, panetini and pita chips. The company’s brands include Nonni’s, New York Style and Brownstone. Nonni’s underwent significant change during Mr. Harris’s tenure. In addition to consolidating the company’s bagel chips businesses, Nonni’s acquired Old London Food Co., a producer of melba toast. Another Nonni’s division is the largest bread crumb producer in the United States. Before joining Nonni’s, Mr. Harris was president and chief operating officer of the Refrigerated and Prepared Foods group of ConAgra Foods, Inc., Omaha. In this role, Mr. Harris was responsible for a portfolio of brands that included Butterball, Armour, Swift, Eckrich, Healthy Choice, Cooks and Hebrew National. Mr. Harris graduated with an M.B.A. in marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. He was a member of the American Bakers Association board of directors. He is survived by his wife, Sara L. Harris, and four children, Mae and Roy Harris and Rachel and Emma Montgomery. Funeral service will be held April 18 at Grace Lutheran Church of LaGrange, 200 N. Catherine Ave., LaGrange, Ill. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Midtown Educational Foundation, 718 S. Loomis, Chicago, IL 60607 or Grace Lutheran Church of LaGrange.
