WASHINGTON — Mark King, chief executive officer of TaylorMade — adidas Golf, will offer the keynote address at the Allied Trades of the Baking Industry breakfast April 6 during the 2009 annual convention of the American Bakers Association.

The annual meeting will be held April 5-8 at the Ritz-Charlton hotel, Amelia Island, Fla.

Named by Golf magazine as one of the 10 most powerful men in golf, Mr. King has been featured in a number of the nation’s top business magazines, including the Harvard Business Review, Fortune and Brandweek. On the Fox TV television show "The Apprentice," Mr. King appeared as a business role model for aspiring contestants. He squared off with Jack Nicklaus on a Golf Channel industry roundtable.

For the bakers, Mr. King will discuss ways to grapple with difficult economic times. His presentation is titled, "Market conditions don’t determine growth — you do."

"During these times it is critically important for bakers to remain focused on executing their business plans," said Robb MacKie, A.B.A. president and chief executive officer. "Mr. King will share his strategies for maintaining that focus."

Mr. MacKie noted that Mr. King has agreed to play this year in the Paul Abenante PEC Golf Tournament.
