OAK BROOK, ILL. — McDonald’s Corp. announced its global comparable sales increased 4.3% in July and 4.5% year-to-date. The company said system-wide sales for restaurants worldwide decreased 0.3%, or 6.2% in constant currencies.
"We remain aligned behind our customer-focused Plan to Win, which continues to drive positive global comparable sales as we satisfy customers’ demands for menu variety, value and convenience," said Jim Skinner, chief executive officer.
Comparable sales at the Oak Brook-based fast-food chain rose 2.6% in the United States in July due to new products, including McCafe espresso-based coffees, and the strength of the core menu.
European comparable sales were up 7.2% due to strength in France, the United Kingdom and other countries. Also in July, McDonald’s said comparable sales increased 2.1% in Asia/Pacific/Middle East and Africa.
