SAN FRANCISCO — Ample Foods, a meal replacement start-up company, has raised $2 million in seed funding led by Slow Ventures.
Founded in 2015, Ample Foods offers drinkable meal replacements that come bottled in powder form to be mixed with water or milk. Varieties include the original Ample formula, Ample V vegan formula and Ample K ketogenic formula. Made with ingredients such as grass-fed whey protein, pea protein, collagen, probiotics, chia seeds and chicory root fiber, Ample products do are gluten-free, soy-free and G.M.O.-free.
“We’re excited to be part of Ample’s mission to help people take control of their nutrition in a convenient way across a range of food lifestyles,” said Scott Marlette, partner at Slow Ventures. “Ample is leading the industry with a level of quality, honesty and convenience that is in line with where nutrition will go in the next 20 years.”
Slow Ventures’ recent investment brings Ample Foods’ total funding to $4 million. The company has also received investments from 500 Startups, Hawkshead Capital and Compound.
Slow Ventures is a venture capital firm that invests in companies related to technology, science, society and culture. Founded in 2009, the company focuses on long-term innovation. Its investment portfolio also includes Blue Bottle Coffee, now a Nestle S.A. subsidiary, Pinterest, Postmates, Bloom Farms, Evernote, Nest and GIPHY.
