WASHINGTON — July production of edible nonfat dry milk was 149,338,000 lbs, down 12% from June but up 12% from July 2011, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Dairy Products report.
Manufacturers’ stocks of edible nonfat dry milk were 129,600,000 lbs, down 10% from June and down 32% from July 2011. July nonfat dry milk shipments were 149,223,000 lbs, down 36% from June but up 20% from July 2011.
Output of skim milk powders was 37,238,000 lbs, up 47% from June but down 6% from July 2011.
Total dry whey production was 90,277,000 lbs, up 9% from June and up 10% from July 2011.
Production of lactose was 85,831,000 lbs, down 4% from June but up 1% from July 2011. Whey protein concentrate production was 34,079,000 lbs, down 12% from June and down 2% from July 2011.
Dry buttermilk outturn was 6,988,000 lbs, down 8% from June but up slightly from 6,961,000 lbs in July 2011.
Total manufacturers’ stocks of dry whey on July 31 were 47,539,000 lbs, down 9% from June and down 1% from July 2011. Total lactose stocks were 89,429,000 lbs, up slightly from 89,345,000 lbs in June and up 18% from July 2011. Whey protein concentrate stocks totaled 56,167,000 lbs, up 1% from June and up 59% from July 2011. Dry buttermilk stocks totaled 13,940,000 lbs, up 1% from June but down 24% from July 2011.
Butter production in July 2012 was 132,776,000 lbs, down 3% from June and down 2% from July 2011.
Total cheese production was 874,429,000 lbs, down 2% from June but up 2% from July 2011.
Production of regular hard ice cream in July totaled 73,802,000 gallons, down 5% from June but up 1% from July 2011. Low-fat ice cream production was 39,924,000 gallons, down 7% from June and down 8% from July 2011.
