When PMMI members gather for the organization’s 2012 Annual Meeting next month, they will explore how seizing an opportunity requires understanding the environment and having the know-how to know when it’s time to step out of the box. And doing it right requires a little bit of luck and a whole lot of planning and knowledge, PMMI added in an announcement for the event.

PMMI’s annual meeting takes place Monday, Sept. 10 to Wednesday, Sept. 12 at The Davenport Hotel, Spokane, WA. Over the course of three days, PMMI members will connect with peers, hear from experts, discover new technologies and tour nearby Pearson Packaging Systems, which is hosting the event.

On the agenda is a special Technology Test Drive session featuring tabletop displays of innovations from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Monday. Monday evening features a first-timers reception, the chairman’s reception and dinner.

Business sessions speakers get underway starting Tuesday morning and include Alan Beaulieu, senior analyst at the Institute for Trend Research, who will provide an economic update; and David Dandel, senior vice-president, Evergreen Pacific Partners, whose topic is “Investment Insights: R&D and Next Technologies.” Other speakers will address subjects such as the Food Safety Modernization Act, exports and mobile marketing for packaging.

Tours of the Pearson Packaging plant are schedule for Tuesday afternoon. Pearson Packaging provides top-loading case packing equipment and custom secondary solutions using robotics, case packers, case erectors, bag inserters, uncuffers and case sealers.
