SAN FRANCISCO — Toufayan Bakeries has plans to extend its line of organic flatbreads.
At the Specialty Food Association’s annual Winter Fancy Food Show held Jan. 21-23 in San Francisco, Ridgefield, N.J.-based Toufayan highlighted its five existing organic flatbreads. Three — wraps, pita and Smart Pockets — ship under the Organic Sprouted Whole Wheat banner. Organic Naan and Organic Garlic Naan round out the category.
The organic naan products were introduced in the second half of 2017, and the others are slightly older, Richard Gilfert, Toufayan’s national sales manager, said at the show. All are hearth-baked and have 8 or 9 grams of protein and no cholesterol or trans fats.
Toufayan is looking at other stock-keeping units to add to the line, Mr. Gilfert said. One possibility is smaller pieces of naan, which could be used to make small pizzas, among other uses.“We’re looking for something a little different for consumers,” he said.
